Pre-race Analysis: BUL should win and CAN appears likely to take the 2nd qualifying spot in Saturday's "A" finals, eliminating both Koven from the USA and Searle from GBR. BUL's split time in its preliminary heat at the 1000 meter mark was probably incorrectly reported on the official splits sheets and should be ignored. This may be the toughest semi-final from which to qualify for the "A" final.
