Pre-Race Analysis
Division I - I Eights Petite Final
Race Bulletin 236 is simply a mixture of the split times from todays semi-finals races, posted by the six Division I Eights which qualified for the Petite Finals of the 2005 NCAA Womens Rowing Championships. This race will be run tomorrow at 11:45 AM, Pacific Daylight Savings Time, with live audio streaming and live splits and graphics coverage by JAMCO. If these crews post the same splits tomorrow, as they did today in their semi-finals races, this is how their Petite Final might play out.
First 500 meters
At the first 500m mark, all crews will be within half a length of the early leaders, Stanford and Tennessee.
Second 500 meters
Brown will take the lead over Michigan by a quarter length at 1000m, with Washington, Stanford and Tennessee bunched together in that order, and USC beginning to fall off pace at the halfway mark.
Third 500 meters
Brown will extend its lead over the rest of the field and enjoy a half-length lead over Michigan and open water on the rest of the field with 500 meters to go. During this interval look for Stanford to regain third position over Washington by a half-length margin entering the final 500.
Last 500 meters
Brown's lead will increase by another half a length for a full-length victory
over a faltering second place Michigan. Michigan will have its hands full
holding off furious closing charges by Washington, Stanford and Tennessee.
Look for Washington to take a full length back from Stanford for third place,
with fourth place Stanford holding off Tennessee by a half-length back and
USC by a full length.
