Pre-Race Analysis of Varsity Eight Petite Final

Boston University has the apparent edge over Harvard for the victory here, but Harvard is expected to lead at 500 meters. What Harvard needs to do if in the lead is bear down in the second 500 meters and keep Boston University from moving through them. After that it looks like Harvard and Boston University have identical speed for the last 1000, so the crew in the lead at 1000 is a good bet here. Also, Michigan State is a fast crew in the last 1000 and Boston University and Harvard have to keep a close watch out for that crew, and not just beat each other to death in the first 1000 meters. Ohio State will stay in the hunt for 1500 also, but seems to fall off pace too much in the last 500.

Prediction: Boston University, Harvard, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Syracuse/Northeastern very close for positions 5/6.
