Pre-Race Analysis Women's Second Varsity 8+ Repechage (Saturday)

The top 2 crews will progress to Sunday's finals and the other 4 crews to the petite finals.

Washington is expected to take an early lead and win easily. Harvard, California, Ohio State and Michigan State should be tightly bunched through the first 1000 meters, each well positioned to take the 2nd qualifying spot for Sunday's finals.

This morning's performances suggest that California and Harvard will break away from Ohio State and Michigan State in the third 500 meters, and California will pull away from Harvard in the last 500 to take second place and qualify for the finals with Harvard.

Harvard has to do whatever it can in the third 500 to stay ahead of or even with California and hold off California's expected move after the 1000.

The prediction is Washington and California to the finals with Harvard, Ohio State, Michigan State and Boston University following for the petites, in that order.
