Pre-race Analysis: GER's stranglehold on the gold in this event is very firm from start to finsh. Unless UKR can stop RUS from coming back even with her in the 3rd 500 meters, expect RUS to take the silver. UKR also has to keep an eye out for the USA in the last 500 meters to protect the bronze for herself. The call is: GER gold; RUS silver; and UKR bronze, unless UKR burns out in the 3rd 500m trying to hold off the charge by RUS, in which case the door opens wide for the USA to snatch the bronze in the last 500 meters.
