Pre-race Analysis: NED should win and ESP, RSA and USA will slug it out in the last 500 meters for the 2nd and 3rd spots to qualify for Friday's A/B semi-finals. The 3 crews (ESP, USA and RSA) fighting for 2nd and 3rd should be overlapped at the 1500 meter mark, unless the USA backed off after 1000 meters in its preliminary heat, in which case the USA should be comfortably in 2nd with 500 meters to go.
